ABOUT US
SfC&D’s strength lies in its unique structure, which enables the SSC to work effectively on devolved and national policy agendas to develop both high quality social care, children and young people’s services, and contribute to the wider skills and learning agenda. Its access to a large range of intellectual capacity enables SfC&D to not only share best practice and learn from one another, but also to develop UK projects which clearly add value to the social care, children and young people’s workforces.
SfC&D’s work is built around 3 strategic objectives:
- to enhance the skills and knowledge of the workforce through learning opportunities and/or qualifications to meet the needs of those who use services and their carers.
- to understand and articulate the needs of the workforce now and in the future
- to promote entry and development opportunities to support a sustainable workforce
SfC&D's 'footprint' (the workforce it covers) is based on the remit for each SSC partner. Our footprint has two definitions, a verbal definition which is included in our contract and takes precedence. This is defined simply as 'SfC&D covers the social care, children, early years and young people's workforces'. A longer, and more detailed definition, based on the workforce that our partner organisations cover in each country can be downloaded from the selection of documents on the left hand side of this page.
