Skills for Care and Development is the Sector Skills Council (SSC) for people working in early years, children and young people’s services, and those working in social work and social care for children and adults in the UK.  Our SSC is a partnership of 6 organisations:
Care Council for Wales, Children’s Workforce Development Council, General Social Care Council, Northern Ireland Social Care Council, Scottish Social Services Council, and Skills for Care
Skills for Care and Development (SfC&D) is licensed by government to represent the interests of some 60,000 employers and 1.87 million workers across the UK. These staff are employed by a range of organisations - both public authorities and independent organisations, often commissioned by the public sector to deliver social care services but sometimes acting directly for people who receive the services. In all cases, our drive is for appropriately skilled and qualified workers to meet the UK's current and future social care needs. To this end we work closely with service users and carers, education and training providers, national stakeholders and the health sector.

Caiff Sgiliau Gofal a Datblygu (SGaD) ei drwyddedu gan y llywodraeth i gynrychioli buddiannau oddeutu 60,000 o gyflogwyr a 1.87 miliwn o weithwyr ledled y DU. Caiff y staff eu cyflogi gan amrywiaeth o sefydliadau - awdurdodau cyhoeddus a sefydliadau annibynnol - a gomisiynir yn aml gan y sector cyhoeddus i ddarparu gwasanaethau, ond weithiau yn gweithredu'n uniongyrchol ar ran pobl sy'n derbyn y gwasanaethau hynny. Ym mhob achos, ein nod yw cael gweithwyr sydd â'r sgiliau a'r cymwysterau priodol i fodloni anghenion gofal cymdeithasol presennol y DU a'i hanghenion yn y dyfodol. At y diben hwn, gweithiwn yn agos gyda defnyddwyr y gwasanaeth a chynhalwyr, darparwyr addysg a hyfforddiant, budd-ddeiliaid cenedlaethol a'r sector iechyd.
