SfC&D Sector Qualification and Learning Strategy (SQLS)

SfC&D has worked with employers and people who use care services to complete a review of its UK Sector Qualification and Learning Strategy (SQLS). The Strategy explains our priorities for the development of qualifications and learning across the UK. The information will be used to prioritise our own activities as well as to influence how governments across the UK shape and work with care services in future.

To make sure the SQLS is more than just words, we've set out in an action plan what we'll be doing in coming months to make it a reality and meet the needs of the sector.

Social Work Qualifications and Regulation in European Economic Area (EEA)

The General Social Care Council (GSCC) and SfC&D commissioned Dr Shereen Hussein, of Kings College London, to conduct a short piece of research on social work qualifications and regulations in the European Economic Area (EEA). The purpose of the research was to to provide up-to-date and standardised information on the status of the social work profession and its regulation in the EEA. This was to assist the GSCC in making decisions about the registration of social workers who have qualified in the EEA, and who were applying for registration in the UK. The research was conducted in partnership with the GSCC and examined data already held by the International Qualifications team in relation to different EEA states.
